About RVC

The RVC Story

The Reproductive Village envisions a world where thriving, healthy Black families have deep connections with healthcare resources and healthcare education in their communities. We’re working together to build a world where Black parents who seek to expand their families have easy access to a variety of appealing options as they pursue their goals.

The Reproductive Village Cryobank (RVC) is a supportive, safe, and responsive community where Black donors and Black parents work together to expand and educate their families. Black parents are increasingly turning to cryobanks for fertility support, yet only 4% of sperm donors are Black. The roots of this disparity are historic and systemic, yet provide us with an opportunity to work towards a different future: one of awareness, education, and optimal resources, for families of all kinds. Whether heteronormative couples, LGBTQ+, or Single Mothers by Choice, RVC is here to offer support, education, and care. We hope you’ll join us.

Let’s build this vision today, for the families of tomorrow.

Meet Angela B. Stepancic

Hailing originally from Chicago, Illinois, Angela moved to Washington, DC in 2000 in order to attend Georgetown University, aiming to earn her undergraduate degree. Although she originally intended to study law, she quickly fell in love with education, ultimately receiving her Master’s in Education from George Washington University. By this point, she felt fully cemented in the broader DC community.

Ms. Stepancic went on to successfully lead two schools; a middle school and an alternative high school, both of which targeted historically under-served and marginalized communities. During her twelve-year tenure as principal, Angela retained approximately 93% of her staff each year, proving that investment in human capital is a cornerstone of Angela’s exceptional leadership. Feeling like she had completed her journey as a principal, Angela began consulting, eventually opening her own firm to support leaders with organizational and cultural strategy. In 2019, she launched edFactory, a firm that works with school leaders, business executives, and non-profit organizations, providing leadership coaching, professional learning, and strategy development.

In 2017, Angela met her wife, and together, they began a fertility journey that culminated in the birth of their beautiful daughter. The challenges they encountered in finding diverse donor sperm throughout the process came very close to ending their dream of parenthood. She was dismayed to discover that only 4% of donor specimens are Black! This disparity is what led Ms. Stepancic to launch the Reproductive Village Cryobank, ensuring that Black families have access to safe healthcare, robust donor options, and emotional support during their fertility journeys.

Angela is deeply committed to building a caring, supportive, welcoming community for everyone looking to build their families, inclusive of all the many ways in which families can form.
